World’s Top Three Tee Of
Rory McIlroy has been drawn with Tiger Woods and Adam Scott as the world's top three play the opening two rounds of the US Open at Merion together.
McIlroy, 2011 champion and world number two, plays alongside world number one Woods and Masters champion Scott.
The line up also reunites Tiger with his former caddy Steve Williams. The two haven’t always seen eye to eye since parting ways in 2011 in a move that left the New Zealander in "shock." Williams later in 2011 apologised for making a racist remark aimed at Woods and this year reportedly said Woods should have been disqualified for an illegal drop at the Masters.
There's more intrigue because Woods is firmly against anchored putting, while anchored putting helped Scott claim his first major at Augusta in April.
All of this adds to the inevitable 18 hole circus on the first two rounds. No matter what happens, it’s going to be interesting.
