Woods & Stenson Among Player of the Year Nominees
World number one Tiger Woods and FedEx champion Henrik Stenson are among the five nominees for the PGA Tour’s Player of the Year award.
Open champion winner Phil Mickelson and Masters champion Adam Scott, as well as American Matt Kuchar, who finished third on the money list, are also nominated for the Jack Nicklaus award.
Woods is the early favourite having already scooped the Arnold Palmer award as the Tour’s official money winner for banking $8.5 million thanks to five wins, which included the Players Championship and two WGC events.
The young American who’s on everybody’s lips at the moment, Jordan Spieth, is widely expected to capture the Rookie of the Year award. The 19-year-old started this season with no PGA Tour status but quickly established himself in the minds of players and fans alike with his skills. He also became the youngest player to win on the Tour since 1931 when he grabbed victory at the John Deere Classic, as well as recording eight other top-ten finishes.
