McIlroy Meets Miami Legends
It seems the burgeoning bromance between basketball and golf continues as World No.2 Rory McIlroy tweeted a fan pic with Miami Heat superstars LeBron James and Dwayne Wade.
The Northern Irishman was in the crowd for Heat's victory over the San Antonio Spurs following his joint-45th finish at the Houston Open and tweeted, ‘With a couple of legends tonight! @KingJames @DwyaneWade made me realise just how small I am!! Lol’.
It's James' second encounter with a world-famous golfer this week, as he and Bubba Watson conversed earlier in the week on Twitter. James told Watson he could stay at his house in Ohio for the Bridgestone Invitational after they struck up a twitter friendship over Bubba’s love of his ‘LeBronold Palmer’ shoes. The man they call King James reached out to Watson tweeting, ‘@bubbawatson yes sir. And let me know when u go play in Akron. U can chill at my crib. Just don't be hitting golf balls in the house. Lol!!’
This comes in the same month that Luke Donald tapped up basketball legend Michael Jordan for advice on the ups and downs of being an elite athlete.
It’s good to see all of these latest connections between basketball and golf and hopefully they can go some way to repairing the damage done to both sports by Charles Barkley’s golf swing.
