Lydia Ko leads in LPGA season-opener
Lydia Ko is leading the way in the LPGA Tour’s season-opening event after the first round, perhaps proving that a change in golf coach, golf gear and caddie was the right remedy all along.
The 16-year-old shot five-under par 68 to end the day in a two-way tie for the Bahamas Classic on the Caribbean nation’s Paradise Island.
This is her first professional tournament since dropping coach Guy Wilson last month; and she’s going strong as it stands, with 10 players one shot behind and everything to play for.
Ko said: "I just tried to play relaxing golf and I think that helped me give myself more opportunities for birdies.
“My mum said just to play my own game and relax."
Keep following your mum’s advice Lydia, it certainly seems to be working!
Ko is also enjoying playing with her new Callaway Golf equipment, hitting 12 of 14 fairways and 13 of 18 greens.
