EA Cut Tiger Loose
In what could be a reckless move, gaming giant EA Sports have cut Tiger loose and will continue their chart-topping golf game with the PGA Tour.
They announced the news on their blog where they were also previewing snapshots of the new 2014 game.
Daryl Holt, Vice President and General Manager of Golf, said, “EA SPORTS and Tiger Woods have also made a mutual decision to end our partnership, which includes Tiger's named PGA TOUR golf game. We’ve always been big fans of Tiger and we wish him continued success in all his future endeavors.
Moving forward, we will continue to work with the PGA TOUR exclusively to create groundbreaking golfing titles and our partnership remains strong.”
Tiger and EA have worked together for 14 years and the games have grossed nearly half a billion dollars, so this decision could come back to haunt EA. That said, the teaser image they released does look good. A lot of the comments said this was the work of some clever Photoshop marketing rather than actual live images of the game, but you can judge that for yourselves.
Whether you’ll be able to play as – or against – Tiger Woods in the new game also remains to be seen.
