Rory McIlroy took another huge leap towards recapturing the form which made him famous on the golf course – with his lowest score in more than four years – a 9-under 63 while playing with Tiger Woods...
14 Year Old Guan Goes For Knockabout With Hero Woods
Not every 14-year-old gets to play golf with their hero, but then Guan Tianlang is not your average 14-year-old.
Tianlang got the opportunity to go for a practice round ahead of the Masters after meeting Tiger on the driving range. Later Woods invited Guan along for an afternoon back-nine practice round at Augusta National with Dustin Johnson, giving Guan the chance to play fabled Amen Corner, his favourite holes on the course, and pick up some Masters secrets.
"He hits it good,'' Woods said. "I showed him a few of the pins, helped him a little bit. The kid is 14. He's good. We had a good time''.
It wasn’t the first time Guan and Tiger teed off together. The teenager had played alongside Woods in a pro-am event in China and a practice round at Shanghai.
"Every time I play with him, I feel a lot better and give myself some confidence and it's very good," Guan said.
For anyone else a round on Augusta with a former winner would be special. But Woods is not the only former Masters champions he’ll be knocking about with this week. Guan spent yesterday morning with two-time champion Ben Crenshaw. Today, he’s playing with two-time champion Tom Watson. On Wednesday, he's playing the Par-3 Contest with three-time champion Nick Faldo.
