Callaway X Hot Fairway
Callaway historically made built their reputation on their fairway woods but had been seriously underpowered last season. The clubs were good, but just didn't have the fast ballspeeds of some of their rivals.
But a year in the drawing room has yielded some great results that they hope will put them back on a hot streak, or should we say an XHot streak.
The XHot and XHot pro woods are 40% thinner than last years Razr X black. Combined with a forward centre-of-gravity these clubs really pack a punch. The flat grey looks awesome and reminds us of the original Big Berthas and the design just glides through the turf. Expect to see these a lot this season making loud noises from tee boxes and grabbing headlines on the professional tours.
In fact, these new fangled fairway woods hit the ball so far that pros are adjusting their bag accordingly. Callaway's new signing Gary Woodland has put a steel shaft put in his XHot Pro 4 wood to reign back the distance. Professionals need their fairway woods to fly a specific yardage, but this extra yardage is perfect for us amateurs trying to reach those long par-fives in two or for a safe but long shot tee shot.
